According to researchers, we are happy because of happiness in our lives along with the presence in our body. Yes, researchers have recently marked that they have found a gene in the human body, which releases a happy chemical into the brain that makes a human happy. The researchers have also marked that the 5-HTT gene further helps in nerve cells recycling serotonin, which is a chemical in the brain that directly affects the mood and depression in the human beings. These results were announced after the scientists from the London School of Economics thoroughly studied the genes of 2,500 people, post which they found that among all the people, the ones who were happiest inherited two 'long' versions of the 5-HTT gene whereas the least happy were those, who inherited the two 'short' versions of the gene. The survey was conducted by behavioral economist Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, who further told the Express that "it has long been suggested that this gene plays a role in mental health, but this study is the first to show it is instrumental in shaping individual happiness levels. The results suggest a strong link between happiness and this functional variant of the 5-HTT gene". Source: News tonight |
